Stratabounds Deposits
Potrero Alto Hill of Cu (Ag) Chilean

The stratabound deposits of copper, silver subordinated
hosted in volcanic rocks have traditionally been an important
source of copper produced in Chile, along with iron oxide
deposits Cu, Au (Candelaria, Manto Verde) and large
porphyry tasks Cu.

In stratabound deposits, the first exploitations were
developed stratiform bodies (mantels) and, therefore, these
deposits traditionally been known as “Chilean mantles”
(“Chilean mantle-type”), but it is more correct to call them
stratabound and including irregular bodies, fireplaces gap
and discordant veins with subordinate volcanic strata guests

Mineralization at Cerro Black 2-3m reaches power in the upper portion of
the ” Diablo Gap” which is a level of 40m power andesitic lapilli tuff with
clasts of 1.5 cm on average, levels which overlies calcareous siltstones
and fine sandstones with carbonaceous plant remains; There
mineralization locally around a (sillandesítico) and in the basal portion of
the gap Diablo. The sulfides are disseminated in the breccia matrix and
include chalcopyrite, pyrite, bornite, chalcocite, magnetite, hematite,
galena and sphalerite. The alteration does not differ from that exhibited
Training The Chilcas, out of the reservoir and includes chlorite, calcite,
prehnite and pumpellyte; locally there silicification.
Elgueta et al. (1990) Diablo Gap interpreted as a thick tuff which was
locally reworked by fluvial processes and deposited in a lake where
calcareous sediments were deposited subsequently fine.
